Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Movement

The Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Movement is a nonprofit volunteer organization that I volunteer for at my local parish. This youth group has approximately 350 children and about 50 youth leaders including myself. I have joined this youth group as a child and now have positioned myself in a management position.
Being involved in this group has helped me learn professionalism, communication skills, and most importantly managerial skills. Youth leaders are responsible for creating lesson plans to teach weekly every Sunday and as well as creating various events monthly which include training camps, fun camps, fundraising, and retreats.
In a teaching environment, there are so many ways to teach a certain topic to a student. There are varying degrees to which each child learns and it is important to understand the needs of a student and which way a student learns the best.
Not only do I oversee young children, I also develop new youth leaders. Being in a volunteer organization, it is most important as a manager/mentor to understand other youth leaders and their intrinsic motivations. Keeping youth leaders highly motivated help retain youth leaders in a growing organization.
